Make the card grind easy.

Without paying for packs even building a single deck how you want can take countless hours. Not only does this make the game very hard to recommend to new players, it makes this whole statement from the kickstarter feel like a blatant lie: "players will be able to quickly build their collection simply by playing the game. Instead, monetization will be focused on cosmetic items."

DeusAmoeba Сергей Абрамов the thing is, if they need to profit off of card sales to fund the game, then they're going back on a promise they made in the kickstarter ("monetisation will be focused on cosmetic items"). as someone who backed for a very high amount, that makes me feel cheated.
i already have every card — i don't need the grind to be easier for myself. but every friend i've tried to show the game to has quit after a month or two because of the card grind situation. i backed the kickstarter because i thought they could keep the game i love alive, and the number of people i see who are bouncing off because of something the devs promised wouldn't be there in the KS makes me gravely worried about the longevity of this project and the trustworthiness of those managing it.

Might as well just say "make all cards available to everyone at account creation", why even waste time with grinding.
The game does need to make a profit though. Sad fact, so this kinda thing needs to exist.
In an ideal world it wouldn't, but given the circumstances Duelyst is probably too friendly in handing out stuff already. Getting a competitive meta deck and solid collection in 1-2 weeks from starting, without spending anything, is pretty fast and easy.

Playable decks are quite assembled in a couple of weeks / month.
Your proposal will only reduce the income of developers and the project will be closed due to unprofitability
